TAFI Western India Marks Strong Turnout at Chapter Meet in Mumbai.

The Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) – Western India Chapter hosted a well-attended Chapter Meeting at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club, with over 110 members and industry partners participating.

Chairman Mr. Jay Kantawala opened the session by marking TAFI’s milestone 40th year, unveiling the new commemorative logo and acknowledging TAFI Western India for conceptualizing and creating it. He emphasized the spirit of evolution and unity within the fraternity.

Secretary Mr. Arun Iyer began conducting the meeting and shared insights on the work undertaken by the Chapter, including key initiatives and industry representations.

This included a meeting with Managing Director of MTDC Mr. Neelesh Gatne (IAS), who indicated that a digital platform will soon be launched to enable travel agents to register and promote MTDC properties with online booking access.

A representation was also made to Mr. Sanjay Khandare (IAS) , Principal Secretary Tourism Govt. of Maharashtra highlighting concerns over unregulated travel operators and urging the introduction of minimum eligibility criteria for licensed agents in Maharashtra.

An interactive discussion on the evolving geo-political scenario and its impact on travel saw active member participation, with insights on customer trends, cancellations, and emerging opportunities.

A knowledge session on the New Labour Code was conducted by Bazyan Mistry, Director Talisman HR Solutions Pvt. Ltd. focusing on compliance requirements and business implications. Aerticket.in, represented by Vijay Kesavan, presented its products and offerings to members.

The event also featured an announcement by Mr. Vikas Sinha National Head TATA AIG on an exclusive pan-India collaboration with TAFI aimed at strengthening member benefits and industry alignment.

The TAFI WI committee thanked the Members, Sponsors, Speakers, Partners & Media for their support. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with members appreciating the relevance and quality of discussions.
